Sophie Atherton - Freelance Journalist
Previous PR Work

Here are a few examples of the sort of press releases I wrote while I was at the RSPB. Two are serious news stories and the others are more light hearted.

Bird crime. This is the 2008 regional version of an annual RSPB story. Most often it would highlight the plight of birds of prey, but this time it was a different story.

Jimi Hendrix. A colleague made a joke about the flowering heather at a Dorset nature reserve inspiring Hendrix, so I worked it into a tongue-in-cheek story for Silly Season.

Balearic shearwaters. A story about how UK waters are of increasing importance for Europe's most endangered seabird.

Soldiers feed the birds. An 'and finally' type story about soldiers from MoD camps in Dorset competing to be the best at helping farmland birds.
